Course Superintendent

Overview:

The Atchison Golf Club at Bellevue is an 18 Hole golf course located in Atchison, KS. The golf course consists of Bentgrass Greens with cool season Tees, Fairways, and Roughs. The club features a very energetic and passionate membership that has grown significantly over the last three years. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to a Superintendent with a well-rounded skill set who is hands on and passionate about the golf course industry.

Job Responsibilities:

•   Directly responsible for all maintenance activities pertaining to the club’s greens and grounds.
• Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
• Maintains records and completes required reporting.
• Responsible for all necessary irrigation maintenance. Assist the club in developing a plan for new

irrigation when viable.

• Develops a cultural practices plan to define the golf course priorities and standards as set by the

membership.

• Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working

within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

• Recruits, supervises, and manages maintenance staff.
• Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers

and pesticides) on the Club & grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations,

including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers, fuel budget and gas card.

• Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and

minimize disruption to members.

• Coordinates snow removal and winter maintenance activities when necessary.
• Responsible for all necessary equipment maintenance. Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed.

Special Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant
• 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture,

plant science, soil science).

• Valid Driver’s License
• Must have or obtain a Chemical Applicators License
